Reaching CLB 7 in all four skills (listening, reading, speaking, writing) unlocks major advantages in the Express Entry system:
Score CLB 7+ in French alongside CLB 5+ in English and receive up to 50 additional CRS points — often the difference between getting an ITA or not.
IRCC runs dedicated Express Entry draws for French speakers with CRS cutoffs as low as 379 — far below general draws that often exceed 500+. In March 2026, 4,000 candidates were invited at just 393.
CLB 7 French qualifies you for the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker, and several Provincial Nominee Programs that prioritize francophone candidates outside Quebec.
